Mapping of Peneus and Amphitrites paterae Mars
Posted by Jen Somerville on Monday November 28, @06:11PM
from the dept.
Mars has three main volcanic regions (Tharsis, Elysium and Circum-Hellas). For my research I am studying Peneus and Amphitrites Paterae, located south of the Hellas Impact Basin.
Paterae on Mars are important because they are thought to have exhibited explosive volcanism. Two well studied Circum Hellas volcanoes are Hadriaca and Tyrrhena paterae. I am doing the first real study of Peneus and Amphitites paterae. I will be using MOLA (Mars Orbiter Laster Altimeter) data and a program called Gridview to do a general survey of the two paterae.
